How to wash your hosiery without ruining them

Many women just wear their pantyhose one or two times and then toss them in the trash. Even though they are one of the most fragile items in your closet you can wash them, it just requires a more delicate process to keep them in tip-top condition.

Here are three easy options to keep your pantyhose in shape:

  • Hand wash them with a gentle soap
In a perfect world, ideally you should hand wash all of your lingerie and undergarments but we don’t always have time. To wash your nylons, in a medium sized bowl place 4 cups of lukewarm water and a tablespoon of gentle laundry detergent. Soak for 10 minutes and rinse.
  • Machine wash in a lingerie bag
For those of us who don’t have time to wash them by hand, you can throw them into a lingerie bag, which will prevent them from getting pulled out of shape or snagged.
  • How to dry them
Never, ever throw your hosiery into the dryer to dry. If you do, you will end up with tears and they will shrink into a miniature size that a baby couldn’t even wear.
